Medic USB Alert
We are committed to bringing you
information about emergency medical identification and the options you
have to ensure you and your loved ones get the proper medical care if
the need arises. In an emergency, medics are trained to look for medic ID's,
bracelets and other medical jewelry. It is up to you to decide if you need a medical ID and
what type you should use.
There are number of ways you can
make your special needs known to emergency personnel. These include
the traditional medic ID bracelet or other form of medical jewelry,
the "Vial of Life" or a wallet card with your information on it.
There is also a new device called MedicTag that combines the all of
these methods into a single unit. MedicTag is a USB flash drive that
can record all your emergency information. It is easy to use and
convenient to carry making an ideal replacement for the paper wallet
card and its high visibility means that it is likely to be found by
an EMT in an emergency.
If you live alone there are also
home medical monitors that can summon help or notify someone that
you have an emergency.
What precautions you take and what method you
need to use will depend on your individual needs, but if you are at
risk you should take every possible step to protect yourself.
